Department NEC
Brett Colbert
Brett Colbert served honorably in the United States Marine Corps from 1994-1998. He specialized in Embarkation and Logistics and reached the rank of Sergeant. He was stationed in Okinawa, Japan with Headquarters Battalion, 3rd Marine Division G-4, and then with 7th Motor Transport Battalion, 1st FSSG at Camp Pendleton, CA.
A long-time resident of Athens, GA, Brett returned to Athens following the Marine Corps. He pursued a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Georgia and later graduated in 2000. Prior to that, he married the love of his life, Hollye, whom he met while stationed in California; they have been together ever since. Brett retired from his position as a Probation Officer, and is now working for the GA Public Defender Council in Greensboro, GA.
Brett has been involved with AMVETS since 1998. Prior to his NEC position, he has held many positions within AMVETS, both at the Department and Post levels. To this day, Brett proudly stands alongside his fellow veterans and is very adamant that they obtain what is rightfully theirs. He is truly honored, and also humbled by the faith and confidence his peers have in him to serve in his position as the Department of Georgia's NEC.
