Harold W. Banks

Harold volunteered for the United States Army in August 1966 from Toccoa, GA. He did Basic Training at Fort Benning in Columbus, Georgia and completed Advanced Individual Training (AIT) at Fort Polk in Louisiana.

 

He served in the Vietnam War from January, 1967 to January, 1968 with the 25th Infantry Division. Harold returned to Fort Benning as a training NCO. He was discharged in August of 1969.

 

Harold became a member of AMVETS Post 600, in August of 1969 and continues to be active. He has served in many positions including Georgia State Commander in 2005-07 and National 3rd District Commander in 2008. He was instrumental in starting Post 44 in 2009, where he served as Commander for a number of years. Harold has been the VAVS Representation in the Atlanta area for 35 years.
